Kinect Is Teaching Cops Some Sweet Beatdown Moves

Published on January 01, 0001

So Microsoft’s Kinect was a video gaming bust. Whatever. It’s still got its uses. Like…helping police work on their “use of force options” against suspects. You know, whether to shout or shoot at a guy. Prepare mc888 for unintentionally hilarious police action/acting. Via Attract Mode, the Windows version of the peripheral is being mc888 used as part of MILO Range (coincidence?), a training program that’s designed to stick cops in front of a giant screen and have them directly interact with pre-recorded video footage.(new Image()).src = 'https://capi.connatix.com/tr/si?token=995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c&cid=872d12ce-453b-4870-845f-955919887e1b'; cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "995c4c7d-194f-4077-b0a0-7ad466eb737c" }).render("79703296e5134c75a2db6e1b64762017"); }); https://kotaku.com/a-look-at-project-milo-which-was-actually-an-adventure-5781257 Like a bad 80s Laserdisc arcade game, then, only instead of hitting giant arrows they’re yelling “FREEZE”, swinging batons, tazing bros down at the docks and pulling out a little plastic gun (that actually seems pretty cool, since it’s got accurate recoil). (um…..this does not look safe) Most of the time it’s using video footage, but sometimes it drops the player inside 3D environments. Or, graphx. I’m sure MILO Range sounds great across a boardroom table. riches888pg Magic 21st century technology for 21st century police work, etc etc. But we all know how shitty it was for video games, so when you see stuff like this: https://kotaku.com/you-may-not-want-to-watch-this-footage-of-kinect-star-w-5808763 …it’s hard to see this working as advertised. But hey, maybe it does (anything using firearms seems more involved than simply leaving it up to Kinect to figure out what’s happening), and professional police training will get to enjoy a world of Kinect-based interaction that video games never quite got a handle on. And riches888pg if it does, well, the program’s developers have of course already made a zombie shooter to blast jinda44 around with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9KEud2Go4o You can see jinda44 both the MILO Range clips below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aB7qcW3hXs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q54PtT2-sbQ

Some games take a while to load on mobile, but once they start, the gameplay is smooth and exciting. I hope future updates improve mobile performance, but I still enjoy playing several hours a day.
